World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition 2003
In 1989, mystified by how humanity was evolving I began to create "families" of my own in paintings of forms which were futuristic yet primitive totems. I eventually turned these forms into individual bronzes which I call my "Future Ancestor Series". My intent was to portray through form an egality and tolerance of gender and spirit stepping over class and country. I believed them to be a peaceful and positive tribute in memory of the victims of the World Trade Center Attacks. I was moved to enter them in the Memorial Competition and became a finalist in 2003.
